Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) AWS examination preparation course (40 – 48 hours class time)

  • Course follows examination components:
    • Part A: Welding Inspection technology (3 days)
    • Part B: Practical / Hands-On (1 day)
    • Part C: Code / Open Book (1 day)
  • Welding Inspection Technology (WIT) component from American Welding Society (AWS) WIT course materials that have been improved over time.
  • Part B includes inspection tools, replicas (including those similar to the ones used in the test), and hands-on time.  The “Book of Specifications” is reviewed line-by-line.
  • Company-specified code choice.  Codes currently available are:
    • AWS D1.1 “Structural Welding Code”
    • API 1104 (American Petroleum Institute “Welding of Pipelines and Related Facilities”), 20th Edition.
    • Classes for other codes allowed by AWS for the test can be developed;  however, the use of D1.1 or API 1104 is encouraged because the examination question base is larger, with the vetting from many more test takers, and because AWS only publishes study materials for D1.1 and API 1104 (20th edition).
    • Some parts of the codes are integrated into the presentation of other parts of the course.
  • Company drawings, procedures and other Quality System documents can be integrated into presentation
  • Presented at Company facility or at our Richmond Training Center on mutually agreed schedule.
